The depths of winter are a time when we gather together for story and song. The bards and poets of old made cold nights warm through the magic of their poetry, tales, and music. Come to our workshop to experience and learn these traditional Celtic arts firsthand.
We’ll explore the Yuletide customs of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Cornwall, including wassailing, the wren-boys, and the Welsh horse procession known as the Mari Lwyd. We’ll sample the traditional food and drink of the season, and learn to sing (and play!) some traditional Celtic tunes.
What to bring:
- A musical instrument, if you have one. If not, don’t worry – you can sing, clap your hands, or tap your toes, and we will have tin whistles in stock for the holidays!
- Warm clothing, since we may go a-wassailing in cold weather.
